Exposing the PI

Friday, April 11th, 2008

Arnie Lerma posts the following to ARS:

Well, seems Scientology’s Private Investigators have ALREADY arrived at their target cities, and info is there are about 100 of them hired to handle Washington DC.  Im sorry I dont know about other towns, *I* don’t live there…it would be a safe assumption that similar numbers are in LA and Clearwater and perhaps NY .

This is a bit more than the last event…

Guys, lets get pictures of them ok? email the pictures to me

Again, keep your eyes peeled and your guard up.  The cult is in its death throes, and a cornered animal always attacks.  Known cult PIs can be seen at PrivateDicks.org.

RPF dox leaked

Friday, April 11th, 2008

One of Wikileaks’ leaks from yesterday includes the Rehabilitation Project Force creation order. Given the importance of this document, Wikileaks has provided it with its own entry. Some of contents as published on Wikileaks include the proper dress for RPF members, what they are “utilized” for, their (limited) rights and restrictions (including a very simple “No Liberties”), and what it takes to get out of the RPF.  It’s all approved by the Commodore himself.

Just a reminder:

Tom of Helatrobus

Friday, April 11th, 2008

A few weeks ago, I copypasta’d a bit of ex Sea Org member Tom Weeks’ story.  Recently, he’s been a victim of the long-cancelled Fair Game policy; he received a notice from Scientology’s current hired attack poodle.  From ARS:

I just got the letter today around 8pm. It was hand delievered to my house. I asked the courier if he worked for the Church. He said no. I offered him a tip, he said sure. I went inside to get some cash and he said never mind and walked off.

My wife was a little uneasy, so I let her read the letter, then she was just mystified.

The letter states that Scientology INT has retained Latham and Watkins. It states that Anon is a terrorist organization. The letter demands that I “cease all illegal activities against the Church.” No problem there. I’m not doing anything illegal. It is signed David J. Schindler of LATHAM & WATKINS LLP.

There is nothing to the letter at all. No legal merit I can see, whatsoever. If this is the best OSA has got, then they’re in trouble.

Letter page one and page two.

Tory Christman, former OT7 Scientologist and current critic, posts on ARS:

On my Youtube site, I have had tons of posts, created by “Toryhates____” (fill in the blank) ( I delete them as they’re utter BS and I love weeding my youtube garden :)

And then they say: YOU WILL FIND OUT APRIL 12th. FIND A FLIER, if you miss it. You’ll love the photo”.

What utterly sick people. I make videos about Fair Game… so they prove they do it? Now THERE IS BRILLIANCE if I’ve ever seen it!

Open Letter to Latham & Watkins

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

I found this on ARS just now. It was prefaced with “The following email was sent to all Latham & Watkins’s lawyers all over the world.” Reposting here to help spread the word.

Dear Counsel,

Recently, on Latham & Watkins LLP letterhead, Mr. Schindler sends cease and desist letters to Scientology critics and alleges facts that are not in evidence in any court of law. [Attached 1,2,3] Further, there have been no arrests made of any member of Anonymous based upon the allegations contained in Mr. Schindler’s letter. (more…)

“Fair Game” Still Cancelled; Glosslip Fair Gamed?

Tuesday, April 8th, 2008

Glosslip.com today posted the first part in a series on the death of L. Ron Hubbard, bringing to the surface the long-held rumour that exteriorization was forced upon him.

Theories are floating that Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard was murdered as part of a hostile takeover of the Church of Scientology by current leader David Miscavige perhaps with the help of a high-level Scientologist named Norman Starkey. As is told by the author of one version of this theory, Starkey took over as executor of LRH’s estate in a vicious struggle for control of the wealthy, but failing Church.

While a great read in and of itself, the real gems are the comments.  Dawn Olsen, the publisher of Glosslip, revealed:

They [OSA] are currently doing a background search on me. It won’t be long until the goons show up on my doorstep.

More details about this (as well as a place to provide support for Dawn) can be found on Enturbulation.

Cult Tries to Sue Wikileaks

Sunday, April 6th, 2008

The cult is trying to sue Wikileaks. Time for a big ol LMFAO!

To: Legal@sunshinepress.org
Subject: Unauthorized Use of Copyrighted Materials

Dear Legal:

Our office represents Religious Technology Center (”RTC”), the owner of the confidential Advanced Technology of the Scientology religion and the holder of exclusive rights under the copyrights applicable to the Advanced Technology materials. The Advanced Technology materials are unpublished, copyrighted works. RTC’s works include, among others, the individual works comprising levels known as “NOTs,” “OT II,” and “OT III.” These works are registered with the United States Copyright Office under registration numbers TXu 257 326 and 257 527, TXu 303 388,
and TXu 290 496.

Someone has placed RTC’s Advanced Technology works on Wikileaks.org’s website without the authorization of our client. These infringements can be found under the following URLs:

http://wikileaks.org/wiki/Church_of_Scientology_collected_Operating_Thetan_documents

http://wikileaks.org/leak/scientology-ot-levels.pdf

Please be advised that your customer’s action in this regard violates United States copyright law. Accordingly, we ask for your help in removing these works immediately from your service.

Under the U.S. Copyright Act, 17 U.S.C. § 106, it is unlawful to reproduce or distribute someone else’s copyrighted work without that person’s authorization. See, BMG Music v. Gonzalez, 430 F.3d 888 (7th Cir. 2005) (acknowledging that posting copyright materials on the Internet constitutes copyright infringement citing In re Aimster Copyright Litigation, 334 F.3d 643, 645 (7th Cir. 2003).

Indeed, courts have entered numerous permanent injunctions and awarded statutory damages and attorneys’ fees regarding infringement of these and similar works. For instance, a jury in the United States District Court in San Jose, California awarded RTC $75,000 in statutory damages, and statutory attorney’s fees and a permanent injunction were imposed against a Mr. Henson for posting one of the NOTs works on the Internet. A Virginia United States District Court granted RTC judgment for damages, costs, and a permanent injunction related to similar wholesale copyright infringement, in addition to permanent injunctions that were entered in another three copyright cases related to similar infringements in the United States.

Likewise, a Swedish court enjoined a defendant who engaged in infringements of these same Advanced Technology works, in addition to finding that his actions in placing those works on the Internet violated our client’s rights under Swedish copyright law. RTC v. Panoussis, Judgment of the Stockholm District, Division 7, case T-7-886-96. He was also fined for his illegal actions and ordered to pay litigation costs. The decision by Stockholm District Court was upheld on appeal.

We also ask that you preserve any and all documents pertaining to this matter and this customer, including, but not limited to, logs, data entry sheets, applications — electronic or otherwise, registrations forms, billings statements or invoices, computer print-outs, disks,
hard drives, etc.

I have a good faith belief, and in fact know for certain, that posting copies of these works through your system was not authorized by my client, any agent of my client, or the law.

I declare under penalty of perjury that this information is accurate and that I am authorized to act on behalf of RTC in this matter.

I appreciate your prompt attention to this matter.

Sincerely,
Ava Paquette
