Daily Source: Perverts

Sunday, April 20th, 2008

While the 2007 reissue of Dianetics may have morphed Zulus into primitives, homosexuals are still considered perverts. As far as I’m aware, the psychiatric community in 2007 doesn’t consider homosexuality to be a perversion; Scientology does, citing two sources who died in 1902 and 1939.

Daily Source: Individuals

Saturday, April 19th, 2008

Today’s Daily Source is short and sweet.  It’s one sentence from Dianetics: The Original Thesis.

There are as many distinct individuals on earth as there are men, women and children.

NO SHIT.

Daily Source: The Religion Angle

Friday, April 18th, 2008

This comes from a letter written from LRH to Helen O’Brien.

The arrangements that have been made seem a good temporary measure. On a longer look, however, something more equitable will have to be organized. I am not quite sure what we would call the place - probably not a clinic - but I am sure that it ought to be a company, independent of the HAS but fed by the HAS.

We don’t want a clinic. We want one in operation but not in name. Perhaps we could call it a Spiritual Guidance Center. Think up its name, will you. And we could put in nice desks and our boys in neat blue with diplomas on the walls and 1. knock psychotherapy into history and 2. make enough money to shine up my operating scope and 3. keep the HAS solvent. It is a problem of practical business.

I await your reaction on the religion angle. In my opinion, we couldn’t get worse public opinion than we have had or have less customers with what we’ve got to sell. A religious charter would be necessary in Pennsylvania or NJ to make it stick. But I sure could make it stick. We’re treating the present time beingness, psychotherapy treats the past and the brain. And brother, that’s religion, not mental science.

Daily Source: Sex rules

When called on their anti-homosexual stance, the cult of Scientology is quick to point to HCO Policy Letter of 11 August 1967 which states that “…ALL FORMER RULES, REGULATIONS AND POLICIES RELATING TO THE SECOND DYNAMIC [sexual] ACTIVITIES OF STUDENTS, PRECLEARS, STAFF AND SCIENTOLOGISTS ARE CANCELLED.”  This is an example of an acceptable truth; this doesn’t negate Hubbard’s assertion from Dianetics that homosexuals are “perverts”.

Just so we’re clear on it, here are exerpts from the exact same policy letter clarifying the above statement.

No staff member may be punished, transferred or dismissed because of second dynamic activities.

No student or preclear may be suspended or dismissed because of second dynamic activities….

We are also aware that those org staffs which are overactive on the second dynamic seldom prosper.

We also retain any and all technology relating to the second dynamic….

One of Man’s primary areas of aberration is the second dynamic.

Processing, not discipline, is the only thing which eradicates aberration of such depth.

In other words, gay people are welcomed… but they’re still perverts and need to be fixed.

Daily Source: Suppressive Acts

Wednesday, April 16th, 2008

In honour of the world’s first Suppressive Person Entheta Bomb, here’s a list penned quilled by Hubbard on what classifies one as a Suppressive Person. I’ve highlighted the ones I found most comical. They weren’t originally bulletted in HCO PL 23 DEC 1965, but I’ve done so here to aid in reading. (more…)

Daily Source: Savage Tribesmen

Tuesday, April 15th, 2008

From the 1967 Fundamentals of Thought.

Self-created data is then not a bad thing, neither is education, but one without the other to hold it in some balance will bring about a no-game condition or a nocivilization. Just as individuals can be seen by observing nations, so we see the African tribesman, with his complete contempt for truth and his emphasis on brutality and savagery for others but not himself, is a no-civilization. And we see at the other extreme China, slavishly dedicated to ancient scholars, incapable of generating within herself sufficient rulers to continue, without bloodshed, a nation.

Sounds more like stereotyping than thorough research to me. Coincidentally, Hubbard was neither African nor Chinese.

Daily Source: Disconnection

Monday, April 14th, 2008

Pat Harney, spokespoodle for the cult of Scientology and an alleged victim of disconnection herself (her husband has apparently been in the Rehabilitiation Project Force for awhile), was quoted in an article insisting there is no policy on disconnecting family members.

Here is the policy on disconnecting family members.

WHEN DISCONNECTION IS USED

An Ethics Officer can encounter a situation where someone is factually connected to a suppressive person, in present time. This is a person whose normal operating basis is one of making others smaller, less able, less powerful. He does not want anyone to get better, at all.

In truth, an SP is absolutely, completely terrified of anyone becoming more powerful.

In such an instance the PTS isn’t going to get anywhere trying to “handle” the person. The answer is to sever the connection.

This comes from HCOB 10 Sept 1983.

Daily Source: “Chilluns”

Friday, April 11th, 2008

L. Ron Hubbard imparts this story in his Create and Confront lecture.

You notice some parents, they can create kids and not take any responsibility at all.  Funny part of it is, there’s some families in some parts of the world, all they do is go into kid production, y’know? They take no responsibility for anything they create.  Like the story I heard one time, well, that’s neither here nor there– uh, oy–

A traveller was down in the southern part of the United States, and he was walking down the Bayou, and he sees an alligator eating a child.  So he runs up to the nearest house, and he says to him, he says: “say,” he says, “there’s an alligator down there, eating a child! It your child?” and so forth.

This old fella was sitting on the porch steps, he uncoiled himself, leaned inside the house, and he says “man, I told yuh sumthin was gettin those chilluns!”

Yes, a person can create, and not take any responsibility for the creation.

Good one, Hubbard.  Reeeeal nice.

Daily Source: The Zulu

Thursday, April 10th, 2008

News from ARS is that the following passage from Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health has been altered in the 2007 re-issue. David Miscavige, why must you be squirrling the tech?

Primitive societies, being subject to much mauling by the elements, have many more occasions for injury than civilized societies. Further, such primitive societies are alive with false data. Further, their practice of medicine and mental healing is on a very aberrative level by 91 itself.

The number of engrams in a Zulu would be astonishing. Moved out of his restimulative area and taught English he would escape the penalty of much of his reactive data; but in his native habitat the Zulu is only outside the bars of a madhouse because there are no madhouses provided by his tribe.
